Why

“Newspaper reporters and technical writers are trained to reveal almost nothing about themselves in their writing. This makes them freaks in the world of writers, since almost all of the other ink-stained wretches in that world reveal a lot about themselves to readers,” said Kurt Vonnegut.

I am no exception to the rule. Among writers I am a freak. In my official capacity my opinion doesn’t matter.

But here on 0xZeitgeist, my opinion does matter. I started this newsletter to share my unfiltered thoughts on the state of my industry—the business of cryptocurrency, Web3, and media.

Unlike the cashier at McDonald’s, I don’t even get paid for doing this. Support my insanity by subscribing.

What

If you’re willing to tolerate a little irreverence, I will take you along to explore the intersection of economics and Web3.

Through my writing, I hope to illuminate the most pressing issues in media while sharing my anecdotes—ranging from the hilarious, to the sad, to the bizarre—from my time working as a newswrangler. For those aspiring to write or work in media, I also plan to share the lessons and tips I learned the hard way.

How

By drawing on my six years of experience as a newsman and crypto degenerate.

I started my journey as a cryptocurrency miner in 2017. Back then, my apartment was as hot as a Finnish sauna. It was covered wall-to-wall in slipshod computer racks that were minting magical internet money.

I continued working in crypto-related projects of dubious repute until I decided to pick up perhaps the least reputable of professions—journalism. For whatever reason, something possessed me to live off of beans and rice and write articles at $30 a pop as a beat blogger.

I worked my way up from the bottom of the journalist caste system and went on to become the editor-in-chief at CryptoSlate, then the editor-in-chief at Crypto Briefing, and finally the CEO of Crypto Briefing.

I’ve seen a lot during my time covering this industry. Sometimes I feel like I have the thousand-yard stare of a soldier that just returned from Vietnam. Yet, I’d still rather work on this newsletter than pay for therapy.

When

You’ll get your 0xZeitgeist at least once a month. Ideally more often, if I’m not too busy tending to my garden or perfecting my process for making mead. Realistically, I’ll release new issues whenever I feel like it.

But let me share a secret with you. Like all humans, I’m a sucker for attention. So if you like and share 0xZeitgeist and help me achieve widespread notoriety, then I will happily release issues more frequently.

Where

You will get 0xZeitgeist right to your inbox! Though, if I’m feeling particularly irritating, you might also see me, and perhaps others, promote my newsletter issues on social media. If you feel like humoring me you can like and share those posts too.

Give me a hit of dopamine by subscribing to 0xZeitgeist. It won’t even cost you anything.
